Install and update

Upload the theme and move your settings to a new version.

Voltwren is sold directly by Veloso Labs, so Shopify's one-click theme updates don't apply. Each new version is a zip you upload next to your current theme. Your live store keeps running the old version until you publish the new one.

Install

Get your licence code for the store first (see Licence and updates); the download unlocks once a store is on your licence.
Download the latest version from your licence page.
In Shopify admin open Online Store › Themes, choose Add theme › Upload zip file and pick the zip. The theme is added to your theme library, unpublished.
Choose Customize, paste your licence code under Theme settings › Licence, set your logo, colours and menus, then publish.

Update to a new version

Read What’s new to see what changed.
Download the new version from your licence page and upload it as above. It arrives unpublished, next to your current theme.
Bring your settings across. Shopify doesn't copy settings between uploaded themes. In your current theme choose ⋯ › Edit code and copy the contents of config/settings_data.json, the page templates you changed in templates/ (the .json files) and sections/header-group.json and sections/footer-group.json. Paste each into the same file in the new version and save. Settings the new version adds start at their defaults.
Check the licence code is still there (it is part of settings_data.json; a code saved as a velosolabs_licence metaobject carries over on its own).
Choose Preview and check your homepage, a collection, a product and the cart on desktop and mobile.
Publish the new version. Keep the old one in your theme library for a while so you can switch back.
