Install and update
Download Tradeline, upload it to your store and move your settings to a new version.
Tradeline is sold directly by Veloso Labs, so Shopify's one-click theme updates don't apply. Each version is a zip you upload next to your current theme. Your live store keeps running the old version until you publish the new one.
Install
- Download Tradeline: the free Lite package from the Tradeline page, or, with a Full licence, from your licence page once your store is on the licence. Lite and Full are the same package.
- In Shopify admin open Online Store › Themes, choose Add theme › Upload zip file and pick the zip. The theme is added to your theme library, unpublished.
- Choose Customize. With a Full licence, paste your code under Theme settings › Licence (see Tradeline Lite and Full). Pick a style and industry kit, set your logo, colours and menus, then publish.
Update to a new version
- Read What’s new to see what changed.
- Download the new version and upload it as above. It arrives unpublished, next to your current theme.
- Bring your settings across. Shopify doesn't copy settings between uploaded themes. In your current theme choose ⋯ › Edit code and copy the contents of
config/settings_data.json, the page templates you changed intemplates/(the.jsonfiles) andsections/header-group.jsonandsections/footer-group.json. Paste each into the same file in the new version and save. Settings the new version adds start at their defaults. - Check the licence code is still there (it is part of
settings_data.json; a code saved as avelosolabs_licencemetaobject carries over on its own). - Choose Preview and check your homepage, a collection, a product and the cart on desktop and mobile.
- Publish the new version. Keep the old one in your theme library for a while so you can switch back.
If you'd rather not do this yourself, ask us and we'll move your settings across.
